Bear Spray at Project Playground

On 08/16/2023, JPD received a report of a child who had been exposed to bear spray while playing on the tube slide at Twin Lakes Park. It was reported that someone had sprayed bear spray inside the tube slide in the ice castle at the park.



Stolen Baseball Cards

On 08/28/2023, JPD received a report of a burglary at a residence located in the 1000 block of Otter Way. The complainant reported someone had entered their home and stolen about $25,000 worth of 1950s Mickey Mantle baseball, cards, and President cards.

Broken windows at bus shelters
June 23, 2023

On 06/23/2023, JPD received a report of several windows broken out at three separate bus shelters along Mendenhall Loop Road; El Camino Street, Mendenhall Blvd, and Haloff Ave. The combined damage is estimated at about $5,000.

Mendenhall River Burglary – Stolen iPads

On 06/22/2023, JPD received a report of a burglary at the Mendenhall River School. The following items were reported stolen.

  • 10 Apple iPads, valued at $474 each.
  • 10 Apple iPad pencils, valued at $100 each.
  • 1 blue tooth mouse and keyboard set, valued at $100.

Vehicle Theft/Stolen Firearm
June 07, 2023

STATUS: OPEN

On 05/28/2023, JPD received a report of a stolen 2006 white Chevrolet pickup from the bottom floor of the transit center parking lot. Later that same day, the vehicle was located in the parking lot of the wastewater treatment plant, off of Radcliffe Road. The vehicle’s stereo was missing, as well as a 9mm pistol. The pistol is described as a black and gray semi-automatic pistol with a red dot sight and black skate tape around the handle.

Theft of Bicycle

On 04/30/2023, JPD received a report of a bicycle that was stolen from in front of a residence on 6th Street in the downtown area. The bike is valued at $1,000 and is described as a fluorescent orange Specialized bicycle



Commercial Burglary
April 22, 2023

STATUS: OPEN

On 04/22/2023, JPD received a report of a burglary at a business in the 3000 block of Clinton Drive. The complainant reported that sometime between 04/21/23 and 04/22/23, someone illegally entered the commercial building that was under construction and stole the following items;

 

-Dewalt tools, valued at $800

-Building key locks, valued at $2,000



Burglary on Davis Ave
April 04, 2023

STATUS: OPEN

On 04/02/2023, JPD received a report of a residential burglary in the 1900 block of Davis Ave. The resident reported that sometime between March 8th and March 12th, someone entered their home and stole the following items;

 

-Black AR-15 style rifle - valued at $600

-Black Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm - valued at $500

-Kimber 1911 with pink and wood hand grips - valued at $950

-Crystal collection - valued at $200

-Navy blue ASUS laptop valued at $250

-Jewelry - valued at $750

-Salon hair products - valued at $500



Burglary and Vehicle Theft
March 31, 2023

STATUS: OPEN

On 03/30/2023, JPD received a report of a residential burglary in the 2600 block of Fritz Cove Road. The home owner reported they had been out of town for the past two months and recently had a friend check on their residence. It was at that time they learned the home had been broken into. It was reported that some property was stolen from the residence, including two vehicles; a green 2001 Toyota Tundra and a blue 2018 Ford Escape.

 

The Toyota Tundra was later located in the parking lot of a business in the 9400 block of Glacier Highway. The Ford Escape is still reported stolen.  

Shots Fired in Churchill
March 18, 2023

STATUS: OPEN
On 03/18/2023, the Juneau Police Department received a report of residents hearing what sounded like several gunshots in the area of the Churchill Trailer Park. Responding officers were unable to locate anyone in the area related to the shooting. Residents told police they heard at least six gun shots.  

Theft from Vehicle
March 09, 2023

On 03/09/2023, the Juneau Police Deaprtment received a report of a theft from a vehicle. The complainant reported they left their vehicle in a ditch on Glacier Highway following an accident. When the owner returned to get the vehicle, they discovered the following items had been stolen;

 

- Blue Orielly 3-ton floor jack valued at $300

- 5610 Innova car scanner valued at $500

- Hydroflask valued at $50

- Box of mod vape valued at $30

- Checks



Theft of Tools
March 04, 2023

STATUS: OPEN
On 03/04/2023, the Juneau Police Department received a theft report of approximately $3,000 work of Dewalt tools from a vehicle that was parked overnight in the Marine Parking Garage. The tools were listed as a Dewalt drill, skil saw, multiple nailers/graming guns, a tool box with hand tools and two tool belts.  

Residential Burglary on Radcliffe Road
February 15, 2023

STATUS: OPEN

On 02/15/2023, JPD received a report of a burglary at a residence on Radcliffe Road. The complainant reported they had been gone for three weeks, and when they came to the residence, they found the garage door was open and the door leading into the kitchen was broken open. The complainant said the only thing missing from the residence was a TV, valued at about $1,000. The complainant valued the damages done to the door frame to be between $600 and $1,000.

Commercial Burglary on Cordova Street
February 10, 2023

STATUS: OPEN

On 02/10/2023, JPD received a report of a burglary at a commercial site on Cordova Street. The complainant reported approximately $3,600 in tools were stolen. The stolen items are listed as follows;

 

  • Diablo saw blades valued at $30.
  • Bosch laser dot level valued at $150.
  • Dewalt impact screw gun valued at $150.
  • Milwaukee stackable tool boxes and a set of Rigid power tools valued at $3,200.

Vandalism

On 01/29/2023, JPD received a report of vandalism to multiple vehicles parked in the 630 block of West 12th Street. It was reported that the vehicles had some of their tires slashed. The damages are estimated at about $1,000.



Theft of Concrete Molds
January 18, 2023

STATUS: OPEN

On 01/18/2023, JPD received a report of a theft from a commercial business located in the 5700 block of Concrete Way. The complainant reported a concrete mold, valued at approximately $10,000 was stolen sometime in the past couple of months. Also reported stolen were a car battery and other miscellaneous car parts, from a Subaru, which was parked on the property; the car parts are valued at approximately $400.

 

The concrete mold is a custom-made device used to make jersey barriers. It is large, and whoever took it would have needed to use a forklift and truck or trailer to haul it.

Burglary/Theft
December 04, 2022

On 10/04/2022, the Juneau Police Department received a report of a
burglary on a boat in Aurora Harbor. It was reported that the break in
occurred sometime in the proceeding 5-weeks. The complainant reported
the following items were stolen:
  - Silver 12 gauge Mossberg shotgun, valued at $300.
  - Black Co-op Rei bicycle, valued at $500
  - Two Makita drills, valued at $250.

The bicycle was later located and recovered by a friend of the
complainants.

handgun was stolen from his residence.
