Burglary - 5100 Block of Glacier Hwy
April 29, 2020

On 4/16/20 at about 0300 hours, the Juneau Police Department responded to an alarm call in the 5100 block of Glacier Hwy.  An investigation revealed that a local business had been burglarized.

During the burglary, the suspect(s) caused about $5,000 dollars in damage and stole about $10,000 worth of merchandise.  Much of the stolen merchandise was e-cigarette liquid.

Theft - Airport Blvd
January 29, 2020

On November 18, 2019 at about 7:40 AM, the Juneau Police Department received a report of the theft of $1,260 in tools from a business in the 8500 block of Airport Boulevard. The tools were taken from inside a work van and no suspect description was known.

Theft - Sunset Drive
January 22, 2020

On November 17, 2019 a package was stolen from the porch of a home in the 2500 block of Sunset Drive. The contents of the package were valued at $227.

During the Christmas holiday a lot of packages will be delivered to homes in the Juneau area. It is advisable to make sure that residents watch out for the thefts of those packages after delivery.

Theft - Seward Street Store
January 15, 2020

On October 19, 2019 at about 430PM, a male and female walked into a store in the 200 block of Seward Street and stole about $1,621 in clothing. The man was described as being a white male in his late 20’s about 6 feet 4 or 5 inches tall, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and True Religion brand jeans. The man was also wearing Grunden brand rubber boots, had a nose ring, and was unshaven. The man was with a female who was described as having long black hair and appeared to be 20 to 30 years of age.

Theft - Mountain Bike

On October 15, 2019 it was reported to JPD that a Black Trek brand mountain bike was stolen from in front of the Thunder Mountain High School.

Theft - Heating Fuel

On October 5, 2019 it was reported to JPD that about 100 gallons of heating fuel was stolen from a residence in the 400 block of Seward Street. The value of the fuel was estimated at about $314.

Theft - Sportsman's Warehouse
December 25, 2019

On two separate occasions a young male went into Sportsman’s Warehouse and stole items from the store. The first incident occurred on October 12 when the male entered the store and stole an Colt Commander look alike air pistol valued at $119.00. The second incident took place on October 21 when the male entered the store and stole and emergency vehicle jump start kit valued at $100. The male was described as wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the word "ULTRADENT" written on the back in white letters.

Theft - Porches
December 18, 2019

STATUS: OPEN
On October 3, 2019 at about 2:40PM, a package was delivered to an address in the 2100 block of Lawson Creek road. The package was taken from the porch of one of the homes in the area. The package was later found in a different area, however 10 items valued at $174 were taken from inside.

In the second case, $350 was taken from a package left at another residence in the 2100 block of Lawson Creek Road. The reporter did not immediately report due to dealing with the package and delivery companies.

Vehicle Vandalism
November 10, 2018

On 11/09/18, the Juneau Police Department received several reports of vehicles being vandalized on Glacier Highway and surrounding areas. Between the area of the ferry terminal, out to Cohen Drive, several homeowners woke up in the morning to find their vehicles had windows broken out.

Not much property was reported missing from the vehicles, except for a tool kit, a vehicle manual and registration.

In addition to the vandalism and property theft, a light green 2008 Ford Escape was reported stolen from the area of Cohen Drive. The vehicle was described as having a bike rack on top and a faded Ireland sticker on the bottom of the driver's side of the windshield.

Currently, a total of twelve vehicles have been reported vandalized. The damages are estimated at about $6,000.

DUI Rewards doubled

The Juneau Police Department will have an increased patrol presence over the Memorial Day Weekend in an effort to encourage people to enjoy this weekend responsibly.

While there will be more Officers on the road, we cannot be everywhere at all times. With this in mind, we are asking for the public’s assistance in making sure that everyone is able to enjoy their weekend safely. If you see a vehicle that you believe is being operated by a person driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, please call the Juneau Police Department.

Sometime between March 15th and April 12th, an unknown suspect(s) stole a pot puller and marine VHF from a University of Alaska Southeast boat in the area of Bentwood Place.

The pot puller and VHF are valued at about $2500 total.

Felony Theft - Canyon Dr.
April 18, 2018

STATUS: OPEN

On 2/17/18, the Juneau Police Department received a report of a theft that was discovered on 2/12/18. The theft occurred in the 8000 block of Canyon Dr. when a work trailer was found open.  26 hand and power tools, totaling around $4000, were taken from the work trailer.

Brands include Porter Cable, Bosch, Skil, Dewalt, Kwikset, and Makita. The types of tools include, but are not limited to: routers, sheers, saws, drills, nail guns, sanders, and an air compressor.

Burglary - Multiple

During the month of February, the Juneau Police Department received multiple reports of burglaries at businesses and residences. During those burglaries, a large number of guns and a large amount of gold were stolen.

Wanted - Lester Allen Hunt

STATUS: ARRESTED
The Juneau Police Department is asking for assistance in locating 28 year old Juneau resident, Lester Allen Hunt. Mr. Hunt has a $500 Juneau AST warrant for Failure to Comply with Conditions of Probation. His original charge was Burglary 1st.

A photograph of Mr. Hunt will be placed on the Juneau Police Department’s Facebook page. He is a white male, about 5’6” tall, with tattoos on his face and head.

Sometime between 12/24/17 and 12/25/17, an unknown suspect stole a gold plated chalice, a silver plated “mass kit” and a silver plated rosary from a church in the downtown area.

Burglary - 5000 Block of Glacier Hwy
February 28, 2018

On 1/5/18 at about 0630 hours, an employee with a business in the 5000 block of Glacier Hwy called JPD to report they had shown up to work and found someone inside their business.
 
The suspect was chased from the business but was picked up a short distance later by someone in a low profile silver minivan. The suspect was described as being between 6’0” and 6’2”, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
 
An investigation revealed the suspect entered the business unlawfully and took cash.

Felony Theft - Outboards
February 21, 2018

On 1/15/18 at about 0900 hours, a Juneau business owner called the Juneau Police Department to report an unknown suspect stole two outboard motors off boats at a business on Industrial Blvd.

The theft occurred within a couple days of the report and included a blue 9.9 HP Yamaha and a gray 9.9 HP Yamaha. One of the outboards has identifying marks on the cover.

Felony Theft - Electronics Bag
February 14, 2018

STATUS: OPEN
On 1/3/18, between 1100 and 1400 hours, a black bag containing over $15,000 worth of electronics was taken from a building in the area of Willoughby Ave.  The bag was described as a 3ft x 2ft x 1ft zip-up hard sided black bag. The electronics taken were unique and would be used for cable installation and maintenance.

Burglary on Gee Street
December 10, 2017

On October 31, 2017 at about 0310 hours, a Juneau resident called the Juneau Police Department from the 9000 block of Gee Street to report a man inside his home. The Juneau resident said he awoke because he felt a cold draft while he was asleep on the couch and saw a male subject in the living room going through his wife’s purse. The suspect was described as being about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds. The suspect was wearing a gray hooded sweat shirt and blue jeans.

When the suspect was confronted he ran from the residence and was not located. The homeowner said that he later found that the suspect had gone through their vehicles as well. Due to being startled it did not appear the suspect got away with any of the homeowner’s property.

Burglary on South Franklin
December 03, 2017

On October 26, 2017 at about 0955 hours, the Juneau Police Department received a report of a burglary that occurred in a business in the 170 block of South Franklin Street. Investigation revealed that the suspect(s) entered the business through a window. Once inside the suspect(s) broke up the cash register and stole approximately $200. The damage to the cash register was estimated at $270.
